About Sis

I am a woman raised in Montana.  My Dad worked in construction, so our life was one of feast and famine.  We spent all summer stocking up on food and supplies.  In the winter we hunkered down through months with no money.  This was my normal.  I didn’t realize until much later that everyone didn’t do this.  I learned so much about being self sufficient and confident from my parents.

I was raised to understand that you must do what it takes to take care of your family.  You always take care of your family, friends and the land around you.  I am not a bunny hugger, but I am a dyed in the wool conservationist.  We need to take care of the gifts we have been given in life…our family, land, time and talents.  I was also raised to believe that you prepare, and take care of your own.  Help doesn’t always come in time…so help thine self.  That is what I plan on sharing with you fine folks…help yourself.  You can do all these things.  The question is will you?  Come on in and explore…and Welcome!fire ring montana

    • Thanks for the affirmation. Yes I am a Montanan and I live here now. I think this crazy weather is definitely a wake up call for folks. I am excited to get the word out to people. I hope I can get people thinking before a large scale disaster comes to their area. Have a wonderful day.

  3. I just love your site Enid – well done! I am living in Germany for a few months and originally from Ireland, people here in Germany conserve, recycle and reuse everything. It is a wonderful thing to become aware of and start to practice. The Earths resources are not infinite – we need to learn new skills.

  6. Great Niche- I love it-great and very important content we should all be looking at-I’ve watched that TV show called Doomsday Preppers so I have some idea of your concept. Good choice of categories and website has good contrast between text and background.

    good work!

    • Yeah…I’ve seen that show. It is kinda fun to see how far people will run with an idea. What I noticed is that everyone has a different fear and they prepare for that scenario. I hope to teach people that if you live a generally prepared life, you don’t have to be afraid. Most preparation is a huge improvement over the average complacency we live with. Anything you do is better than nothing.

    • I’m glad you are interested in gardening and found my site. I learned to garden from my dad as an adult. I didn’t have much interest as a kid, but I have come to appreciate the wisdom of growing food and knowing where it came from.
