I am not going to tell you that I know everything about being prepared for every emergency…anyone who does is lying. What I will tell you is that if you start today, and make some easy changes to your mindset and lifestyle, you will be better equipped to deal with any issue that arises.
I live in a state that faces blizzards, wildfires, high winds, tornadoes, earthquakes and volcanoes. We are also one of the poorest per capita states in the union. We understand learning to assess risks and plan accordingly. It is important to be honest about your circumstances. This allows you to make a workable plan for the most likely disasters in your area. Above is a great example of a person who looked ahead, anticipated a problem and solved it before he needed to. That is the definition of a modern prepper.
Prepping is a new term for a very old American ideal…self-reliance. Americans were a hardy group who crossed deserts and mountain ranges. We made our clothes, grew our own food, made our own soaps and fixed our own tools…after we spent all day working at real jobs. So what happened?
In the late 20th century, someone decided that this life was too hard. Their kids were going to have it easier than they did. And so began the slow slide into a world of mindless gadgets that make life so simple, that we have become distracted by quick and easy. We no longer want to DO something. This attitude has created a void of education. The young didn’t learn survival skills in real life, they were too busy saving lives in a video game. I am not putting anyone down. Everyone does the best they can with the tools they got…some people just have more tools.
That’s what this site is about…giving you tools that you maybe didn’t get as a kid, or maybe haven’t thought about in years. So let’s dive right in and start preparing to live life well under any circumstance.
Nice post, full of great information.
It is so good to hear from you. I hope you find lots of helpful stuff as the days go on! Have a great day!
Awesome post. I couldn’t agree more with you on every point you raise. We are heading into troubled times and many will perish if they are not prepared.
Thanks for the comment. I think it’s important for every person to learn to take care of their fam. Hope we can share some info!
I’m glad to see that some one else is out there who is ready for anything. My father recently bought some land out in the woods, He intends for my family to meet there if anything were ever to go wrong. This is really important post, WW3 could be right around the corner with whats been going on. I wish you luck on getting the message out there!
I’m glad you guys are getting ready. I hope you find lots of posts that give ideas that will help you! Have a blessed day!
This article grab my heart away since I always admire American people who had lived hard life in a past time and these human race are so intelligent to make various tools to facilitate their life and to protect themselves. Now come to the today’s kids, my son – is 13 of age – who know nothing about the survival or prepping like you mentioned, just can’t make any fixing things in the house in comparison to me at the same age. He just lives with social network and online games and watching music video on Youtube, and there is nothing that he care about the survival in an emergency case.
I completely understand. My kids are teens, and sometimes they roll their eyes at me, but I know how important this is. We have put limits on their games and phone, not as a punishment but a lifestyle change. No excess is good, including texting and tweeting. They grumble, but this gives them more time to interact with real people and homework and all the other things in life. I have noticed that as I do some of these things and explain why I’m doing it, without being preachy, they are getting it. Take heart, if you apply it they will figure it out. Have a blessed day!
Great Content! glad to see you’re putting it out there. There’s a book about EMP, the effect it could have on our power grid and the aftermath on clickbank.com. Might be something to add to your site. Cheers!
Thanks for the book idea. I will check it out. I am working to find great information, and EMPs or grayouts are a huge risk in our modern world. Have a great day.
How do you find time to live if you are always having to prepare, but in saying that you have a site with good information and it looks good
For me, I decided to change what ‘living’ means. I used to define living as working harder to have more toys, newer stuff and better vacations. Now ‘living’ means spending more quality time with my family, learning useful skills together, laughing over mistakes, having fun with the things that are already in our house, learning to do more with less and learning to spend time doing with my kids… not watching on the tv or computer. I want my life to be a real experience, not some manufactured ideal that some marketer created. I am sharing the ways that we have found to do just that. I don’t know if we will ever suffer a depression or disaster or pandemic, but if something bad happened, I want to know that my kids are strong capable people who can survive , thrive and help others. I don’t want them in a panic and immobilized. Self sufficiency creates confidence. Confidence carries over into every area of life. Being a useful person with useful skills, makes you ok, whether you are a janitor or a CEO, you are ok. All the pep talks and feel good be nice speeches can’t give you that. I appreciate your feedback. I understand that everyone doesn’t understand, and that’s ok too. I am just here to give folks practical ways to enrich there lives and prepare at the same time. Have a great day.
